PROJECT OVERVIEW: This client-based design project required us to produce one or more patch designs for the 5th annual Coast to Crest Trail Challenge for the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy (SDRVC). The patch had to include their color palate, the words "Coast to Crest Trail Challenge", and recognize and celebrate the 5th anniversary of the event. A line sheet was then to be produced in order to professionally present our designs.
DESIGN CONCEPT: I wanted to create a peaceful and charming nature scene that resembles the past designs and branding of the organization and their events (including imagery such as rivers, tall grass, and egrets that they commonly use) with my own stylization and elements to make it fresh and unique. A large focus was placed on simple color-blocked shapes in order to aid the embroidery process and retain detail and information for the final design if produced. The yellow is meant to pop off of the other greens and blues (with the darker foreground framing the number) in order to emphasize this important aspect of the design.
