PROJECT OVERVIEW: Working in teams, we were tasked to reimagine the backpack experience and create a design brief for a new, original backpack concept to market. Each group needed to have the following as a minimum: a concept art page; 3 illustrations of the design (3 views) including an example of functionality; a poster, ad, or propaganda piece for your design; at least 1 example of how it would be marketed; A logo for your product/fictional company; and a final design brief explaining who you are designing for, and the why behind the designs.
DESIGN CONCEPT: Using the Gotham font that appears across Fleet Feet’s branding in order to make a sleek design for a workout shirt. A play on the term “trailblazer” the design plays on the trail running and community aspect of the brand while also providing a fun motivational message that promotes exercise. The design features the silhouette of a man running within the letters, and use of italics helps to introduce motion and intensity into the design.

DESIGN CONCEPT: With much of the brand’s identity centering around promoting and connecting the local community and area through fitness, I looked to create an ocean design as a reference to the San Diego beaches. The entire design showcases an abstract sunset scene on the water, with the wave pattern and sun intentionally coming together to resemble a runner. Warm reds and oranges paired with a cool blue separate the different parts of the design.
DESIGN CONCEPT: Expanding upon the “We Run San Diego” that is present within the Fleet Feet San Diego brand, I wanted to create a large abstract back spread that featured a San Diego beach scene: including a setting sun over the water, a palm tree, iconic San Diego bluffs, and a runner passing it all by. Using vibrant warm and cool colors, I looked to make a clean and playful jack spread for a T-shirt to balance the minimalist text/logo on the front.
